A Tale of American History

Mr. Feng Luo Bai Yi – an IT professional with 30 years of experience, a passionate history enthusiast, and the author and narrator of the popular podcast programs A Tale of American History, A Tale of Chinese History, A Tale of European History, A Tale of Buddhist History and A Tale of Middle East History. These programs have accumulated over 100 million plays across various digital platforms. A Tale of American History and A Tale of Chinese History have been published into books by Zhejiang Publishing House and Peking University Press, respectively. Mr. Feng Luo Bai Yi currently resides in North America.

Kalli Yang – A high school student from Dulwich College Beijing (DCB). Kalli enjoys theatre, history, and learning new languages. During her free time and the summer holidays, she loves to read books and travel, visiting places rich in history, culture, and scenery. She is particularly interested in exposure to different viewpoints in history, as she believes the past is not defined by facts but rather shaped by those who record and interpret it. Having listened to Mr. Feng Luo Bai Yi’s programs over the years, she finds his storytelling style captivating and his analysis of historical events both detailed and logical. Authorized by Mr. Feng Luo Bai Yi to translate the manuscript of his podcast program A Tale of American History into English, Kalli hopes to share his unique perspective on American history and bridge the gap in understanding between East and West in this era of increasing division.

Rose Li  – A high school student from Beijing Academy International Department (BAID). Rose has strong passion for history, music, and art design. Deeply inspired by Mr. Feng Luo Bai Yi’s programs, she believes that history is a story of real, lasting change. She understands that many of the problems and challenges people face today are not new, and that people from the past made remarkable changes and solved issues that seemed insurmountable at the time. Motivated by this perspective, Rose is participating in translating this excellent podcast program, “A Tale of American History.” Rose hopes that this translation program can bridge the gap between languages and regions, cultures and perspectives, allowing the podcast to reach a wider audience.

Aimee Chen — A high school student from Branksome Hall, Korea. Aimee has strong interest in history and believes it to be a crucial part of human civilization. History helps people understand the past, shape the present, and prepare for the future but many people find history distant or difficult to approach. Trough participating this project, Aimee hopes to contribute her language skills and passion for history to make historical knowledge accessible to a wider audience and improve her own understanding of history during the process.

Esther Zhang – A high school student at the Winsor School in Boston, Massachusetts. Esther views history as a means of bridging the past and present, which is why she is so interested in both European and global history. She thinks that people can acquire important lessons that are still applicable now by comprehending historical events and viewpoints. Outside of history, Esther likes to play flute, write, play sports, and hang out with friends. She also enjoys find cuisine, with Korean BBQ being her all time favorite. She is committed to bridging language barriers and extending the reach of historical knowledge as a contributor to this project.
